Guided Learning
Independent Creating

Online Art Studio

 For young creatives ages 7-18.
Hello,
I'M JOELLA, ARTIST & ART EDUCATOR

Young Creatives Online is a welcoming online art studio for children and teens.

-------------
It exists to give young creatives the time, structure, and freedom they need to grow creatively, wherever they are.

Here, real foundation skills sit alongside imagination and independence. Learning is guided, but never rushed, with space for children to explore ideas, make mistakes, and build confidence in their own way of working.

Through high quality classes, a welcoming creative community, and a free monthly workshop, I support both children and parents, helping young creatives develop real skills, trust their ideas, and enjoy the process of making.

There are a few different ways to take part, depending on what suits your young creative best:

A few words from

YCO families...

“She has a real talent for nurturing confidence while gently pushing young artists to explore and develop their ideas.” “Young Creatives Online is a wonderful space for young artists. Joella is excellent with children — incredibly patient, encouraging, and skilled at bringing out the very best in each child’s creativity journey. She has a real talent for nurturing confidence while gently pushing young artists to explore and develop their ideas. Highly recommended for any child who loves art or wants to grow creatively in a supportive environment. She offers small online classes (and it works!) and also 121 sessions.” - Maria R 1:1 sessions

“Week by week, her confidence grew.” “I had been searching for in-person art classes in our area for a while, but with limited options available, I began looking online and came across Joella's class. From the very start, Joella was helpful and welcoming, and I felt confident booking my daughter in. My daughter is 9 and can be quite shy, especially in new groups, so I was a little nervous about how she'd find the experience. But week by week, her confidence grew. She truly looked forward to each session and was so proud of what she was learning and creating. What’s been especially lovely is seeing how she’s carried this confidence and enthusiasm beyond the class. She included a recent painting in a school presentation about her favourite activity -art and even submitted a self-portrait to our local agricultural show, where she won 1st place. Joella’s kind, calm, and structured approach creates such a safe and nurturing environment for children to grow. She has a wonderful ability to support each child’s unique personality and pace. It’s been a beautiful experience, and we’re so grateful for it.” Lisa Edmunds - parent of a Mini Creatives student

“It’s amazing to be able to find an online art teacher who makes them feel so comfortable and happy to share their work.” “My daughter has taken part in one of the sketching courses during the summer holidays and also the monthly calm clubs. She is looking forward to trying out the new studio sessions too. Joella is great at inspiring them to try new techniques and my daughter really enjoys every online session. It’s amazing to be able to find an online art teacher who makes them feel so comfortable and happy to share their work and to be able to interact...” Louise St Dennis - YCO parent

“She learns from what you say to them just as much as what you say to her.” “Sophie has really enjoyed the art classes and her ability in sketching has really improved which really showed in yesterdays final elephant drawing. I know Sophie really enjoyed using her non dominant hand for drawing which pushed her out of her comfort zone but in a really positive way. She also really enjoys it when you go around the class talking to everyone as she learns from what you say to them just as much as what you say to her. Sophie’s confidence in herself and her drawing ability has really come along. This art class was just ideal for her, thank you so much.” - Clare Warner - parent of a Young Artist student

“Best art teacher ever!” Best art teacher ever! My son absolutely loves his art lessons. Thanks to Joella, he has been enjoying creating fun works of art and has developed a new found confidence in his own abilities! I can not wait to see what they do in there next term.” - Elizabeth Findlay - parent of a Home Creatives student

“She just wants to improve for her own sake.” “My daughter enjoys being able to interpret and adapt a brief, using her skills and imagination to produce a truly unique piece of artwork. From a parent's perspective, I appreciate it when you adapt the medium to suit whatever the children have readily to hand, so we don't always feel the need to buy extra bits and bobs in order for the pupils to take part. Your classes inspire her to want to create outside of the lessons, and I've certainly seen her using the techniques she's learned in class in at-home projects. She loves showing the work she's done to you and to her classmates, and is always keen to tell me whose she especially liked! It inspires her, I think, especially the artwork of children older than her/with a more developed sense of style. Art enables her to express herself without judgement, without feeling like she's competing with anyone else. She just wants to improve for her own sake, and your gentle hand-holding classes are perfect for an aspiring artist to do just that!” Michelle Jenkins - parent of a Mini Creatives student

How Online Works

Can teaching art online really work? Absolutely!

In my experience, online classes are both accessible and highly effective. Through live Zoom sessions, I bring high quality art lessons straight to you.

Whether you’re in a bustling city, a quiet village, or away from home. I know not everyone has easy access to local art classes or studios, but we all deserve the chance to deepen our creativity and skills in something we love.

During each live Zoom class, we’ll dive into various art techniques, materials, and ideas together, with other like minded creatives who share the same passion.

My Story

Why I Started Young Creatives Online

I know how important art can be to a child, because I was one of them.

I was always drawn to creating. Any chance to make something, draw, paint, or explore ideas, I took it.

As I got older, I realised how much children want to learn when they’re genuinely interested in something. They naturally want to try more, build skills, and find their own way of making art.

Looking back, I think I would have really loved a space where creativity was taken seriously, somewhere to properly learn, explore ideas, and build confidence in what I was creating.

That’s a big part of why I started Young Creatives Online, and it’s at the heart of how I teach today.
